SPLICING OF TEXTILE BELTS BY COLD VULCANIZATION
Belt should be cut in angular shape. Cutting process is done, according to the belt width, between 15° and 40 angle.
Plies are opened at lengths specified in the chart as fabric resistance. Cover is removed from 30mm inwards of uppermost fabric layer. Bottom fabric is removed 50mm from bottom cover.
Sharp edge where the top cover and fabric overlaps is abraded at an
angle of 450 with wire brush or spiral.
Cold vulcanized adhesive mixed with hardener is applied both surfaces prepared for splicing. It is provided that adhesive penetrate throughly into the fabric. While the compound is applied, brush must be pressed powefully and homogenly. It must be paid attention to the fact that air bubbles shouldn’t take place. It’s important for ir to dry completely. Minimum 2 hours may be required for drying.
To provide perfect drying, it’s recommended that the last layer ought to be applied on both parts at the same time by two assemblers. Rubber parts drying is faster than fabric parts. That’s why a tiny layer should be applied to these parts before the last layer dries. All steps should be concided together.
If there is a fault with assembling, removal is required and a thin layer of compund should be applied again and should be waited for drying.
Adhered parts should be pressed by using a roller. Roller should be used from center to the edges in order for air to leave from the edges.
The same process should be done in joint area, as well.
Excess rubbers must be cut carefully by using a knife. Belt should not be operated before 2 hours. It can be better to operate after 6 hours.
